We Are Here. This Time Together.

Something is changing in Evansville and you can feel it if you pay attention. People have been quietly showing up for each other for a long time now. Sharing what they have, checking in on neighbors, speaking up when it counted, and building the kind of connections that don’t go viral but hold things together anyway. River City Rising is what happens when all that quiet work decides to stop being quiet.

This isn’t one organization with one agenda. It’s neighbors. It’s you and the person next to you deciding that showing up for each other is worth doing out loud and in public. Every Sunday at 2 PM at MLK and Main, that decision becomes a place you can actually stand in. People come to share free resources, trade books, offer skills, make music, speak their minds, listen to someone else’s, and just exist together in the same space without needing a reason beyond that.

You don’t have to have a speech prepared or a cause figured out. Showing up is the whole thing. The rest grows from there. A conversation turns into a plan. A face you didn’t know becomes one you look for the following week. Something small becomes part of something you didn’t expect.

We’re not here just to push back against what’s broken. We’re here to practice what we actually want. Mutual aid. Creativity. Real accountability. Community care that doesn’t require an application to access. Power shared because that’s the only way it actually spreads.

If you’ve been waiting to feel like community is still possible, stop waiting. If you’ve been trying to figure out where you belong in all of this, you’re already there. Come as you are. We’re here together this time and there is room for you.
