A New Chapter for Community Action

The March 1 gathering marked the beginning of River City Rising. It set the tone for a movement rooted in community engagement, mutual aid, shared knowledge, and public action.

As more residents take part, the goal is to build a strong network of people who speak up, support one another, and work together on solutions that serve the whole region.

Speakers and Community Voices

The first gathering featured speakers working on issues that affect many people across Southern Indiana.

Cindi Clayton

Democratic Candidate for Indiana State Senate – District 49

Cindi Clayton spoke about civic participation and the importance of engaged voters. She shared her vision for stronger representation and encouraged residents to stay involved in local decision making.

Her message focused on participation. When people stay informed and speak up, communities become stronger and more accountable.

He represents Direct Action Against CenterPoint Energy (DAACE), a grassroots effort focused on protecting residents from rising energy bills and supporting access to solar and alternative energy options.
